PRIM background
The Massachusetts Pension Reserves Investment Management Board (the PRIM Board or PRIM) provides general supervision of the investments and management of the Pension Reserves Investment Trust Fund (PRIT). PRIT is the investment portfolio for the assets of the Massachusetts State Employees’ and State Teachers’ Retirement Systems, as well as local retirement systems that choose to invest in PRIT. PRIM manages approximately $40 billion in assets for the various Massachusetts retirement systems. PRIM has 25 employees located in its Boston, Massachusetts office.
Position overview
PRIM is seeking a Director of Information Technology to manage and maintain PRIM’s IT infrastructure and to provide IT oversight and planning to guide PRIM in the application of new technologies to solve business problems. This position will report directly to PRIM’s Executive Director.
To be successful in this role an individual will need to be flexible as they will be performing tasks as varied as presenting regular updates to our board of directors to helping users with individual computer issues and problems when outsourced helpdesk support is not available. Candidates should be familiar with the compilation and management of a budget, comfortable working with others to solve problems, and familiar with the latest technologies including Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft SQL Server, .Net development, VMware, SAN technologies. Successful candidates will be good project managers as well as good problem-solvers. The Director of Information Technology is expected to be able to proficiently discuss technology in non-technical terms to a business audience. Knowledge of the investment management industry and processes is a plus.
